Across North America, Doulas are quickly becoming indispensable members of the maternity care team. Study after study shows how professional labour support is allowing women to have shorter, easier labours and deliveries that result in healthier moms and babies. Many hospitals are hiring staff Doulas as the significance of emotional support is being more and more realized. The positive benefits of Doulas are many, from better birth experiences, shorter hospital stays, decreased postpartum depression and overall feelings of happiness and satisfaction as reported by Mothers and Fathers across the country.

This support does not end with childbirth however. Labour of Love & Sweet Beginnings also offers postpartum Doula services. While the birth of a new baby is a time of joy and excitement, it can also be an overwhelming time of stress, anxiety and uncertainty. A postpartum Doula works with families to make this transition as smooth and relaxing as possible.
